Renishaw was born in the aerospace business. When Rolls-Royce couldn’t find a measuring device accurate enough for Concorde instrumentation pipes, Renishaw’s founder built one: the touch trigger probe. A revolutionary piece of manufacturing, it became our first product.

We help manufactures undertake repeatable, traceable, efficient work to the finest tolerances. We do this throughout the supply chain so every component – not just safety crucial ones – meets its design intent.

We provide solutions throughout the aerospace industry in many application areas and we have expertise in controlling the manufacture of engines blades and components. We also offer expertise in controlling the manufacture of specialized components.

Manufacturing performance

Improving manufacturing predictability to create a consistent and stable process enhances the throughput and delivery performance of supply chains.

Maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)

Our measuring equipment delivers the extreme accuracy required to remedy blade wear and repair other components that demand high-quality maintenance in service.

Safety

Improving the safety of components begins with quality. We relentlessly eliminate sources of variation by producing ever-finer measurement to increase component safety and deliver the highest standards of traceability.

Innovative materials

We’re pioneering additive manufacturing (AM) solutions such as lattice structures and part consolidation for lightweighting, complex internal galleries to optimize fluid flow, and design for AM to enable topological optimization.

Engines, blades

Aircraft engine components demand some of the highest manufacturing standards in the world. We have decades of experience supporting the manufacturing and maintenance of aero engines, delivering efficient, repeatable, traceable manufacturing processes for the most costly and difficult-to-machine materials.

How can our technologies help you?

Calibration – Devices and software for accurate set-up of complex multi-tasking machine tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).

On-machine probing for in-process control – Machine tool probes are used for component setup, tool setting, and in-cycle gauging as well as first-off component inspection to enable accurate machining processes.

Tool setting, broken tool detection – Contact and non-contact tool setting systems detect and adjust to the condition or wear of cutting tools.

Gauging – Our Equator™ gauging system offers precise and rapid gauging of complex parts, tracking trends in machining, and enabling automatic process adjustments to account for changing variables including thermal drift.

Additive manufacturing – Metal 3D printing using a range of metal powders to create strong, light components in forms impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing.

Inspection – Manufacturers around the world rely on Renishaw CMM probing systems to achieve traceable inspection of a wide range of components including blade-specific software applications.

Position encoders – Interferometric laser encoders and optical encoders offer high accuracy across long distances or tight spaces.
