The MU-8000V Laser EX multitasking CNC machine combines laser additive technology with subtractive manufacturing, enabling complete part production on one machine.

Using laser metal deposition (LMD), the machine supplies powder from nozzles while lasers melt that powder to parent material, allowing various types of materials to be combined and layered. It also allows three-dimensional fabrication and cladding.

Parts can also be repaired and inspected throughout production. Variable control of laser spot diameters, from 0.4mm to 8.5mm, increases efficiency and resolution.

Advantages of LMD instead of laser metal fusion (LMF) are:

  • Mid-process part inspection, material exchange
  • Coolant use in work envelope
  • Faster process than powder bed fusion
  • Three-dimensional fabricating
